The direct air service between Manchester, UK and Plovdiv, Bulgaria has been restored officially. It will run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the press office of the airport in this country's second most populous city reported on Sunday.

The flights will be operated by Ryanair. Take-off time from Plovdiv is set at 11:40 AM local time. It will be a convenient service both for Bulgarians coming home for the Season's Holidays and for tourists who want to visit the winter resorts and the cultural landmarks of the area.

Plovdiv Airport CEO Doichin Angelov was quoted in the press release as saying: "The restoration of the service is an important step for Plovdiv as part of our efforts to improve air connectivity." Angelov acknowledged the key role of the Plovdiv Airport Development Fund in setting up new air services and promoting the city as the air transport hub of Southern Bulgaria. "These efforts are important not only for upgrading connectivity with Plovdiv but also for attracting tourists and investors who can contribute to the area's economic development," he said.
