site.btaSigned Agreements for Municipal Projects Number 1,625, Regional Development Minister Koritarova Says

Addressing the opening event of the annual meeting of local authorities, organized by the National Association of the Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) on Sunday, caretaker Regional Development and Public Works Minister Violeta Koritarova said that the agreements signed with municipalities for the implementation of local projects are 1,625, and the project proposals received by the ministry total 2,170. "We have processed more than 75% of the proposals," Koritarova said, adding that the estimated value of the municipalities' projects after the updates of the capital programmes amounts to more than BGN 7 billion. 

Alongside Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova, Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov, Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov, Koritarova took part in a discussion panel where investments for local development were discussed.

"We are having a hard time, but I think we are doing well. In the last month, month and a half, we have processed a significant amount of data. We have made payments worth BGN 240 million," Koritarova said. 

"Let us build the water and sewerage projects and the underground infrastructure first and then build the above-ground infrastructure. Please, prioritize the water and sewerage projects, they should come first, so that we can also fight the drought," Koritarova urged the participants in the local authorities’ annual meeting.
