site.btaExpert Advice: Don't Buy Electrical Cables from Turkiye, China
Dangerous electrical cables are predominantly imported from Turkiye and China, and often do not meet electrical cable standards, Dr. Eng. Dimitar Beleliev, Chairperson of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (BASEL), said in a BTA interview. Such imported products contain a smaller amount of metal (copper and aluminium) and use insulation materials that do not meet the physical and mechanical indicators required for the respective products, he explained, commenting on BASEL experts' warning that dangerous electrical cables are flooding the Bulgarian market.
In Beleliev's words, buying unsafe electrical cables can lead to greater electricity losses due to heating up and faster aging, and there is also the danger of fire.
Beleliev advises consumers to buy cables produced in Bulgaria because their quality is guaranteed. "If you buy Bulgarian cables, you protect yourself from serious accidents and losses. Besides, part of your money will come back to you through taxes," he explained.
