site.btaAgribusiness, Food Technologies Universities to Organize Joint Bachelor Programmes

The University of Agribusiness and Rural Development and the University of Food Technologies (UFT) reported that they will organize joint dual bachelor's programmes in Veliko Tarnovo to help the business sectors in the region, said the leaderships of the two universities at a meeting with Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov and business representatives on Thursday.

The joint programmes will begin in 2024. The two joint specializations will be Economics of the Food Industry and Industrial Management, said Prof. Valentina Nikolova-Aleksieva, Dean of the UFT Faculty of Economics.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the food, restaurant and chemical industries. Marian Arabadzhiev, the manager of a large company that produces disinfectants, said that his company will support financially students who choose to enrol in one of the bachelor's programmes and agree to work for the company in the future. 

Alexandar Karacholev, who works in the restaurant industry, emphasized the need for qualified people that is a result of the rapidly developing hospitality industry.

Company owner Ivan Stefanov said that while the number of meat processing companies is growing, meat technologists and experts are increasingly hard to find.
