In 2022, Lukoil Neftochim paid nearly BGN 685 million. Of these BGN 90 million were in corporate tax and the rest in temporary solidarity contribution. Between January and September of 2023 alone, the company paid nearly BGN 647 million, of which BGN 153 million were in advance corporate tax and the rest were solidarity contributions, said Lukoil in a statement to the media on Wednesday.

In response to the continuing political pressure, the leadership of the company states that it complies with all of its obligations to the budget and pays all taxes envisaged in the legislation in the statutory time.
Lukoil is perhaps the only economic entity which under special legislation has to pay a 55% tax on its profits (in corporate tax and temporary solidarity contributions). Statements to the media about BGN 1 billion in back taxes are absurd.

Complying with its obligations, arising from the sixth package of sanctions, as from 2023 the company is switching to processing non-Russian crude oil.

"Suggestions that the company breaches EU rules by exporting petroleum products originating from Russian crude oil for EU countries are not true and this can be confirmed by the Customs Agency. Also untrue are claims that Lukoil is involved in corruption schemes with politicians and public servants. The leadership of the company urges for an end to all ungrounded accusations and says that it will use its right to protect its interests and business reputation in all accessible and lawful ways,” the company states.

Earlier on Wednesday, the trade union in Lukoil told BTA that workers at the refinery will protest against plans to cancel the derogation for Russian oil imports. The rally will take place on the interchange to the Trakiya motorway on Friday, said trade union secretary Dian Palov.
