Cambridge Day — one of the leading events for English teachers in Bulgaria — brought together nearly 400 specialists, teachers, and educators to discuss the future of language teaching in the country. Organized by Klett Bulgaria publishing house, the event was held for the 19th consecutive year, with a focus on providing innovative resources for teachers' professional development and improving the overall learning environment.
The conference featured three sessions where participants explored cutting-edge approaches and educational resources in English language teaching, alongside proven practices for creating more effective and engaging learning experiences, the organizers said. Guest speakers Matthew Ellman and Charles Stewart shared insights from their professional experience, highlighting the importance of feedback, understanding students’ needs, and integrating these elements into the learning process.
This year’s event also celebrated Klett Bulgaria’s 20th anniversary as the official representative of Cambridge University Press & Assessment in Bulgaria, recognizing its contribution to the advancement of English language education across the country.
An award ceremony was held for the finalists of the national round of the Kangaroo Global Linguistics English language competition, which drew nearly 900 students from across the country. Students from Sofia achieved the best individual results, while the highest average score was recorded by students from Rakovski, followed by Sveti Vlas and Vratsa.
Winners of an art and music competition organized by the Association of Cambridge Schools in Bulgaria were also honored. Students from Varna, who won the special audience prize, and students from Kardzhali, who took first place, performed their musical works live during the event.
"On this day, we celebrate the students and teachers whose hard work and perseverance lead to outstanding achievements. Thanks to them, the English language competition has become an integral part of Cambridge Day, offering an opportunity to showcase our best graduates, who represent us proudly at the international level," Klett Bulgaria Managing Director Vladimir Kolev said.
