BSP - United Left MP Mariana Boyadzhieva took part in a Thursday meeting of the parliamentary committee on culture and media in Sofia. She inquired about the future of Culture Ministry's Chitalishta [community centres] Programme, underlining its success in 2024.

"Over 1,400 chitalishta submitted projects [under the programme]," she said. 

Culture Minister Marian Bachev responded that BGN 2.5 million are envisioned in the state budget for community centres support. In 2024, the funds were granted by a decree of the Council of Ministers, he said. "We hope that if the budget is implemented well, there will be support again from the Ministry of Finance in this direction," Bachev added.
