The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Friday presented the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) with two awards on the occasion of National Awakeners' Day. The first award was for BTA's long-standing coverage of the Academy's activities, and the second award went to BTA photojournalist Minko Chernev in the Online Media category.

During the award ceremony, BTA Secretary General Julia Sokolova said that it is an honour for her to accept the BTA award, especially on National Awakeners' Day.

Sokolova said that the Agency has designated special information topics related to culture, science, education, economy, as well as climate, environment and green transition. She also noted that the restoration of BTA’s LIK magazine covers the deficit in Bulgarian media in terms of information about science and culture.

BAS also awarded the host of the Good Morning Europe news block on Euronews, Ani Baldjian, the host of Bloomberg TV’s Futurism programme and the host of History BG, Georgi Angelov. The awards were presented for 2023.

The Marin Drinov honorary sign on a ribbon was awarded to Acad. Krasimir Atanasov. The distinctive sign for services to BAS was awarded to Nikolay Peychev Poppetrov and Assoc. Prof. Ina Yosifova Aneva.
