site.btaFrench Language School Teacher Lyudmila Galabova Awarded Prestigious Order of Academic Palms

Lyudmila Galabova, a Bulgarian teacher in French at the Alphonse de Lamartine French Language School in Sofia, was awarded the title of Chevalier of the Order of the Academic Palms of the Republic of France, the Regional Department of Education in Sofia said here on Tuesday. The Order was created in 1808 by decree of Napoleon.

In its present form, the Order has three degrees (Chevalier, Officer and Commander) and is awarded for outstanding services to the spread of the French language and culture. Galabova received the award by Pierre Colliot, Director of the French Institute in Bulgaria and councillor for cooperation and cultural activities with the French embassy.

The ceremony was attended by Claudia Calvo – Attache for Educational Cooperation and Deputy Advisor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities, Matthias Favreau - Attache for French Language Cooperation, French Language School's management, representatives of the Francophone academic community in Bulgaria, the Board of Directors of the Association of Teachers of French in Bulgaria, as well as colleagues, relatives and friends of Galabova.

Lyudmila Galabova is a long-time French teacher at the Alphonse de Lamartine French Language School with a high contribution to the development of extracurricular activities and Francophone theatre at the school. She is the author and co-author of various textbooks and teaching aids and is a member of national French language committees.
