Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev held a meeting with his Mongolian counterpart Battsetseg Batmunkh in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry reported. During the talks, the two sides discussed the long-standing partnership between Bulgaria and Mongolia and the opportunities for further deepening bilateral cooperation in a number of priority areas.

Minister Georgiev said that Bulgaria values its relations with Mongolia, based on long-standing traditions of friendship and cooperation. He noted that this year, the two countries will mark their diplomatic relations' 75th anniversary.

The signing of a number of bilateral documents was noted, such as an agreement on international road transport of passengers and goods, an agreement on air services, as well as a licensing agreement between Bulgaria's State-owned dairy producer LB Bulgaricum and Mongolia's APU Company for the production of yogurt in Mongolia, which shows the prospects for deepening economic ties.

Key topics on the European and global agenda were also discussed during the bilateral meeting.
