An official ceremony was held in Blagoevgrad to send off a contingent of the Third Brigade Command, which will participate in the Operational Reserve Force of the NATO Stabilization Force in Kosovo.
Priests served a solemn prayer service for the health and successful return from the mission, while speeches were delivered by Blagoevgrad Mayor Metodi Baykushev and Blagoevgrad Regional Governor Georgi Dinev.
The Bulgarian Army contributes to the security and stability of the Western Balkans, said Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov during the ceremony. He noted that 120 people will be sent from the Blagoevgrad Third Brigade Command to the mission area for at least three months. "I am satisfied with the preparation and readiness. The order came on Friday, on Wednesday we are already sending them, which means that the certification they passed earlier and the readiness they maintain were at the necessary level and we can react within the established deadlines", Eftimov emphasised. He expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Commander of the Land Forces and the Commander of the Third Brigade Command in Blagoevgrad.
"This is the first time I am participating in such a mission. I have no worries, I feel well prepared and motivated," said Anelia Petrova from the Third Brigade Command.
The ceremony ended with a military personnel march.
