At its plenary on Thursday, Bulgaria's Parliament is due to hold hearings of ministers to address the issues concerning fees at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint near Ruse and the increase in water prices in several localities, according to the legislature's draft agenda.

Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Ivanov, and Yordan Valchev, Chair of the Road Infrastructure Agency Board will answer questions about the mandatory registration of heavy-duty vehicles in a virtual queue at the Danube Bridge checkpoint. This issue arises despite Bulgaria's Schengen accession by land and the abolition of border controls for freight transport.

In another hearing, Minister Ivan Ivanov, Energy and Water Regulatory Commission Chair Ivan Ivanov, and Bulgarian Water and Sewerage Holding Executive Director Irena Georgieva will face questions from MPs about the water price increases across much of the country and the government’s policy of integrating all municipal W&S companies into regional W&S associations.

Also on the agenda is a debate on a draft resolution to establish an ad hoc committee to investigate all facts and circumstances surrounding alleged US influence in Bulgaria. The proposal was tabled by MPs from the Vazrazhdane party.
