“Our Navy is strong with its traditions and continuity,” President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev said at a ceremony on Tuesday, where he awarded the Presidential Badge of Honour to Rear Admiral Rumen Popov (Ret.) and Vice Admiral Plamen Manushev (Ret.).
They are recognized for their loyal service and for their significant contribution to the development and strengthening of our Armed Forces.
“I am glad that today's ceremony is also being held in front of the cadets of the Naval Academy,” the head of State said.
The President extended greetings on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. The most high-tech higher education institution in Bulgaria confidently takes second place in the world rankings among maritime universities, Radev said.
The awards are also on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of the naval school, which was founded on January 9, 1881 in Ruse and was relocated to Varna in 1900.
