Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is always ready to cover topics related to tourism and events across Bulgaria, BNT Director General Milena Milotinova said at the conference “Culture. Tourism. Communications” on Tuesday. The event was organized by the National Board of Tourism and held at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (UniBIT).

Milotinova spoke about a new TV series, Kom-Emine, whose first episode was presented at San Stefano Plaza. Filmed under extremely challenging conditions, the series showcases the beauty of Bulgaria - something she said everyone should have the chance to see.

She also noted that her concept for BNT's development includes plans for a programme promoting a healthy lifestyle, covering areas such as tourism, spa tourism, and related topics suitable for national broadcast.

An emphasis is laid on reaching Bulgarians abroad by transforming BNT 4 into a dedicated channel for the diaspora. Bulgarians living overseas have a deep love for their homeland and continue to preserve Bulgarian culture, folklore, traditions, and folk music - even without direct state support, she said. As an example, she pointed to the Bulgarian community in Milan, which organizes an annual May 24 celebration of the alphabet in front of the city’s cathedral and a 15th-century castle, drawing the attention of both locals and tourists.

Milotinova said that BNT would deploy its full capacity to cover the Giro d’Italia cycling race as it passes through Bulgaria. “In addition to live broadcasts on BNT 3, there will be pre-recorded interviews and reports about the beautiful Bulgarian locations along the route,” she said.

Tuesday's event is part of a series marking the 20th anniversary of the National Board of Tourism. The initiative is held under the theme “The Four Keys to Sustainable Tourism: Culture, Nature, Food, and Innovation.” The anniversary events are held under the auspices of President Iliana Iotova and organized in partnership with the Tourism Ministry, with the Bulgarian News Agency as a media partner.
