GERB Leader Boyko Borissov attended a conference in Plovdiv titled "Education and innovation - the formula of growth", organized by his party and Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Speaking in a panel "Political analysis of the current international and national situation", Borissov said, “No one has the right to criticise the budget because this budget is the product of collective irresponsibility.”

He called on the caretaker Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova to submit a budget with the real deficit. "[The budget should] Show the reality in the country. It is important when negotiations are going on," the GERB Leader added.

According to Borissov, the opposition parties also have no right to criticize the budget because they too voted for an increase in spending. “We are guilty, too, as the largest party, that we supported the wrong policies,” Borissov pointed out. According to him, Bulgaria’s real deficit is not 3%, as set in the 2025 draft budget, but more like 7 to 8%. In his words, what is set in the budget cannot happen now. "The time has come for Bulgarians to pay, led by me and everyone here, for these four years," he said.

Borissov said that President Radev will wait before handing over the first exploratory mandate while there is still a chance to form a government.

“I truly hope that the parties will stop working in election mode, as well as the prosecutor's office, because they are also facing elections,” Boyko Borissov said. He stressed that if the immunity of CC’s Lena Borislavova is requested, there will be 69 (number of GERB’s MPs) votes against because for a woman and a mother this measure is unacceptable.

“At last, we have a framework for negotiations on forming a government and they will start on Monday,” said GERB Deputy Leader Tomislav Donchev. In his words, at the moment there is nothing more important than to form a normal, adequate and working government. “Short horizons in politics can lead to nothing because no reform can be carried out in 5-6 months,” Donchev said.
