Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US presidential elections. In a Facebook message Chakarov wrote that the victory "opens new possibilities for the advancement of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the US".

According to Chakarov the ties between the two nations are a key factor for stability, security and prosperity of the Balkan region. "We believe that in cooperation with the new administration of President Trump we'll succeed in strengthening out shared efforts in the area of security, economic development and democratic principles, which unite us," adds Chakarov.
