PM Glavchev to Attend European Council Meeting, First EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in Brussels

Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev is visiting Brussels on October 16-18 to participate in a meeting of the European Council and the first EU-Gulf Cooperation Council summit, the Government Information Service said.

On October 16, Glavchev will take part in the first summit between the leaders of the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). GCC is a regional organization comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The main topics for discussion are how to further cooperation on common key global challenges, economic cooperation, including trade and investment, energy, sustainability, and climate, to name but a few.

EU leaders are meeting in the Belgian capital on October 17 and 18. They will discuss the war in Ukraine, rising tensions in the Middle East, and competitiveness, among others. EU leaders will hold an in-depth discussion on migration and take stock of the implementation of the comprehensive approach on migration. Climate change and biodiversity will also be on the agenda.
