The National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) presented awards to municipalities for their contribution to local self-government in 2024. The event took place during the annual NAMRB meeting in the seaside resort of Albena on Sunday. The awards, which are divided in three categories - large, medium and small municipality, were presented by President Rumen Radev.

The Municipality of Shumen received the "Large Municipality" award, the Municipality of Svilengrad won the "Medium municipality", and Ardino Municipality got the "Small Municipality" award.

The awards for municipal officer of the year, also divided in three categories, were presented at the event by NAMRB Chair Daniel Panov. The winners are the mayors of Sliven, Mezdra and Chepelare.

Boris Boyadzhiev, Director of the Municipal Property and Economy Department of Troyan Municipality, was awarded for his work on a municipal greenhouse system, as its model turned out to be successful and the idea was copied by other municipalities.
