All seven candidates for election to the post of Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) will be heard by the Council for Electronic Media (CEM), CEM decided at a meeting on Thursday. Milen Mitev, Tsvetoslava Georgieva, Hellia Chavdarova, Margarit Rusev, Iva Doychinova - Dimitrova, Valeriy Todorov and Georgi Daskalov are the seven candidates. According to CEM, all seven applicants meet the requirements for the position.

Commenting on the procedure, acting CEM Chair Gabriela Naplatanova said that the candidates for election to the post of Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio have professional experience and prestige, the necessary educational background and work experience. In her words, they meet the requirements under the Radio and Television Act to join the procedure. The concepts, that she argues she have had the opportunity to review, are structured as required, and although their priorities in developing the radio differ, all concepts meet the requirements.

Candidates will be heard in the order they submitted their applications. On October 15, four candidates will be heard - Milen Mitev, Tsvetoslava Georgieva, Hellia Chavdarova, and Margarit Rusev. Iva Doychinova - Dimitrova, Valeriy Todorov and Georgi Daskalov will be heard on October 16.

Each candidate will have 15 minutes to present his/her concept. Then, a question-answer time will follow. The hearings will continue for a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes each. BNR representatives have the opportunity to send their questions to CEM so that they can be asked during the hearings.

All the details surrounding the procedure will be published on CEM’s website.
