A Deputy Environment Minister in the Nikolay Denkov Cabinet, Petar Dimitrov is nominated to become the Minister of Environment by Dimitar Glavchev.
He holds a Master’s Degree in irrigation engineering, with specializations in Bulgaria, Japan, Germany, and Italy. For 20 years he worked at Bulgaria's largest basin directorate (for the Danube Region). He has held various expert and managerial positions, and for more than 5 years he was the Director of the Basin Directorate Danube River Region. Has been deputy environment minister in two caretaker Cabinets (May - December 2021 and August 2022 - June 2023).
He has participated in the development of strategic and regulatory documents in the field of water management at national and European level.
