site.btaStudent Hostels Repair Budget Doubled to BGN 200 Mln

The government doubled the funding for a programme to retrofit, repair and furnish student hostels operated by state-run institutions of higher learning, from BGN 100 million to BGN 200 million, the Council of Ministers said in a press release on Wednesday. The duration of the programme was extended by a year until the end of 2027.

Two other programmes to expand and upgrade the building stock and the facilities in the education system were also extended by a year. One of them concerns nurseries, and the other one is for sport playgrounds and gymnasiums in state and municipal schools. Each of them has a budget of BGN 240 million.

The deadlines for submitting project proposals for all three programmes have expired. The proposals are being assessed and ranked.
