After the successful evacuation of 36 Bulgarian citizens and members of their families from the Gaza Strip on November 1, the coordinated evacuation efforts of the Foreign Ministry and the Bulgarian Embassy in Cairo continue, said the Foreign Ministry on its website.

On November 1, at the Rafah border crossing, the 36 evacuated Bulgarians were received by Bulgarian diplomatic officials in Egypt and were transported to Cairo. They arrived in the early hours of November 2 and were assisted with temporary accommodation. All citizens were issued the necessary travel documents.

The necessary organization for their return to Bulgaria by civilian flights has also been arranged. Instructions have been sent to the Bulgarian diplomatic missions along the transit route to Bulgaria to provide full assistance.

On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel said that the group had been taken out of the Gaza Strip and were safe in Egypt. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant communication with its representations in Cairo, Ramallah and Tel Aviv.
