Kindergartens will receive more than BGN 800,000 for innovations this school year under the It Is Nice in the Kindergarten National Programme. By decision of Education and Science Minister Galin Tsokov, the programme's budget has been doubled to support more kindergartens, the Education Ministry reported Wednesday.

The programme aims to provide targeted support for the application of artistic and innovative solutions of working teachers who are seeking and achieving change for active interaction with the participants in the education process. This year, the programme will cover over 20,000 children from 206 kindergartens where 1,277 teachers work.

The kindergartens will receive resources for building a modern environment and implementing pedagogical practices in kindergartens and outside of them as well as for encouraging children's physical activity. Supported are projects for children's social and emotional development through activities in painting, music, and sport.

This is the second year of the programme, and the interest in it is growing. Its government-approved budget of BGN 400,000 is being doubled with resources from the Education Ministry's budget to fund more projects and encourage interest in innovations in pre-school education.
