Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev left the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to travel to Strasbourg. His lawyer Radostina Tomova also left.

Geshev noted that he wanted to personally attend SJC's entire session and exercise his right to self-defence.

SJC member Atanaska Disheva asked whether Geshev's deputy could be sent to Strasbourg instead or if he could catch a later flight. Geshev explained that he had several personal meetings because of which he could not do what Disheva had suggested.

Ognyan Damyanov said that Geshev's acts are "chicanery" and the meeting should continue.

Tsvetinka Pashkunova pointed out that Geshev should be able to attend because otherwise this could be a reason to believe that the procedure was flawed.

Ognyan Magdalinchev said that he would be absent next week.

SJC members are still debating whether the meeting should be adjourned.
