Bulgarian Defence Minister Todor Tagarev discussed the opportunities for providing humanitarian and military technological aid to Ukraine at a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador in Sofia Olesya Uluschuk on Friday, Tagarev's Ministry said in a press release.

"Bulgaria backs the Ukrainian people's fight for freedom and the efforts to restore international legal order, as well as Ukraine's aspiration to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Our country is contributing to the EU Military Assistance Mission Ukraine (EUMAM)," Tagarev said during the talks. "The political leadership of the Defence Ministry commits to deepen bilateral defence cooperation," he added.

Tagarev voiced concern with the effects of the breach of the Kakhovka Dam. Bulgaria is ready to provide assistance in addressing the crisis.

Ambassador Olesya Uluschuk expressed gratitude for the humanitarian and military technological aid provided by Bulgaria.

Taking part in the meeting were Deputy Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, the Director of the Ministry's Defence Policy and Planning, Brigadier General Radostin Iliev, the Director of the Logistics Directorate, Brigadier General Mitko Grigorov, and Ukraine's Defence Attache, Colonel Dmytro Lukashuk.
