site.btaUPDATED PM Donev: Trade Unions Will Join Talks on Renegotiating National Recovery Plan's Energy Chapter
The trade unions will join the talks on renegotiating the Energy chapter of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev said here on Wednesday. He was speaking at the 11th Congress of the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour, held at Sofia's National Palace of Culture.
"When we speak about the changes that industrial relations are undergoing, young people's attitude towards the labour market is a challenge, because they have requirements and expectations not covered by the minimum wage. Young people want flexible working hours," he said. In his words, young people are the future of labour, and it is high time they became a main topic in the social dialogue.
The labour market is changing fast, but that does not change Podkrepa's position in the trilateral dialogue, Donev went on to say. Some professions will probably disappear and be replaced by new ones, but in these times of fast changes Podkrepa will remain, because the social protection and defence of worker rights cannot possibly be replaced by artificial intelligence.
"Though sometimes you may treat the caretaker government more as an enemy, we are facing serious problems postponed in time, and now we get deep social inequalities and a complex demographic situation for which the caretaker government cannot offer a magical solution," Donev noted. What the cabinet can do and is doing is to offer solutions that are possible in the current economic situation, he added.
