site.btaBulgaria Reports Strong Progress in Eurovision Hosting Preparations
In the short span since May 17, when it won the honour to host the next Eurovision Song Contest, Bulgaria has made significant progress in its preparations for the 2027 event, according to Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov, Eurovision Director Martin Green and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) Director-General Milena Milotinova. The three held a meeting in Sofia on Tuesday, the government press service reported.
Green noted that the speed and efficiency with which the Bulgarian government and the country's state institutions have organized the necessary activities has made a strong impression. "Bulgaria has impressed us all with its remarkably fast response and professional approach to the preparations. There is no other similar case in the history of the contest. This gives us serious grounds to expect a successful hosting and a truly unforgettable cultural event," Green said, as quoted in the Bulgarian-language press release.
Deputy PM Hristov thanked the singer Dara, whose victory in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with the song "Bangaranga" earned Bulgaria the right to host the next installment of the event.
Hristov commented: "This is an exceptional opportunity to present our rich culture and creative potential to the world, and to deliver long-term benefits for our country." He stressed that hosting Eurovision is a way for Bulgaria to promote its cultural heritage to an international audience and generate significant economic and reputational benefits.
According to Milotinova, Bulgaria's four most populous cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas – are continuing in the race to host the contest next year. The final choice will be announced in July.
