The Republic of North Macedonia's opposition party VMRO-DPMNE supports the entry of the Republic of North Macedonia into the EU, but does not accept the thesis that if it is in favour of the EU, it must support changes in the constitution, stated VMRO-DPMNE  Chair Hristijan Mickoski in an interview with TV 24.

Mickoski argued that if in 2022 the position of VMRO-DPMNE had been heard, the negotiation framework with the EU would not have been the same and after the so-called French proposal (the negotiation framework voted during the French EU presidency) the state would have received another, different proposal, "because the French proposal was a consequence of the Bulgarian "no", social and political, to the Portuguese and German proposals".

Mickoski, who expressed his conviction that VMRO-DPMNE will win the country's upcoming parliamentary elections and form a government, said that he is prepared to hold official talks with Sofia immediately after the elections.

He added that the EU cannot but support a VMRO-DPMNE government when the opposition party wins the elections on May 8.
