Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Co-President Ilhan Kyuchyuk is paying a two-day visit to Cyprus, where he has held a series of meetings with high-ranking politicians, Kyuchyuk's office reported on Saturday. At a session with the country's President Nikos Christodoulides, the Bulgarian MEP said the strengthening of the EU's cooperation with Cyprus is important for shaping a common future. The two discussed pressing matters on the European and world agenda, with a focus on migration.

Kyuchyuk also talked with House of Representatives Speaker Annita Demetriou. He drew attention to the importance of security in light of the volatile geopolitical situation amid the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Later, Kyuchyuk and Agriculture Minister Petros Xenophontos discussed food security.

During his visit, Kyuchyuk had a meeting with Democratic Alignment (DEPA) leader Marios Garoyian and the party's Executive Council. DEPA is an ALDE member. The sides discussed next year's European elections and the Liberals' vision of Europe.

Kyuchyuk posted photos in his Facebook profile, which show that he met with Bulgarians resident in Cyprus.
