Nineteen migrants from Syria and Iraq were caught in two trucks with Bulgarian registration by the Romanian authorities while trying to illegally cross the border with Hungary, the Romanian border police said, quoted by the Agerpres agency. In total, Romanian officials found 41 migrants in 5 groups at the Hungarian border.

The migrants were caught at the Nadlac border checkpoint in the western part of the country.

The two trucks in which the migrants were hiding were transporting fruit and food products to Germany and the Netherlands, the agency reported. The foreign nationals were found after a thorough inspection in the side wings of the semi-trailers, informed the border police of Arad district. The individuals were taken to the investigation service, where their nationalities were established.
