On March 19, 1945, the First Bulgarian Army under the command of Lt. Gen. Vladimir Stoychev, defeated Nazi troops at Drava River during World War II.

The Bulgarian troops, as part of the Third Ukrainian Front of the Red Army, achieved a significant victory over Nazi German forces along the Drava River, near the Hungarian village of Dravograd. This battle was part of the larger operations aimed at liberating Yugoslavia and Hungary from German occupation during the final months of the Second World War (1939–1945).

The Bulgarian troops played a key role in pushing back German counterattacks and securing important positions along the river, contributing to the broader Allied efforts in the Balkans.
