Nearly half of Bulgarians would rather see the current government continue to rule than go to new elections, according to a survey by Trend.

The survey, carried out between March 10 and 16, is representative of the adult population of the country, commissioned by the 24 Chasa, dedicated to attitudes towards the main institutions, parties and current issues.

According to 46% of respondents, the current cabinet should continue to govern rather than hold early elections, an option supported by 30% of respondents, while 24% could not decide.

The Zhelyazkov cabinet should stay in office according to almost 100% of GERB supporters, three-quarters of those voting for "There Is Such a People" (TISP), two-thirds of BSP voters, and 6 out of 10 voters of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" (DRF). Among opposition supporters, early elections are the preferred alternative, the agency said.

The majority of respondents (about 55%) do not believe the government will serve a full term. This opinion is more widespread among opposition party supporters, but is also shared by about a fifth of GERB supporters, 40% of DRF voters, half of TISP voters, and 60% of BSP supporters.

The Trend agency recorded an increase in negative assessments of the government. Positive opinions decreased slightly - from 29% to 27%, while negative ones rose from 44% in February to 50% in March.

Parliament's approval rating remained at 15%, but at the same time there was a slight increase in negative ratings from 75% in the past two months to 78% in March.

The assessment of the work of the presidential institution remains unchanged - 40% express a positive opinion, while 45% are negative.

No significant dynamics in electoral attitudes was registered compared to the previous months. GERB retains the first place with 26.7% of the voters. "Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (CC-DB) comes second with 13.6%, followed by Vazrazhdane with 12.5%, MRF - New Beginning with 10.9%, BSP - United Left with 6.9% and DRF with 6.7%. Two other formations are certain to be represented in Parliament - TISP with 5.9%, and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) with 5.7%. Velichie maintains levels around the parliamentary threshold - 3.9%, the Trend survey shows.
