Due to the optimization of the network of mobile operators in Bulgaria there could be possible temporary difficulties in the night of March 14-15.
Network optimization of mobile operators with nationwide coverage is planned for the night between March 14 and 15, 2025, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) said on Wednesday.
The Commission adopted decisions to ensure conditions for more effective and efficient use of the radio spectrum in the 900 MHz band by the three mobile companies here: A1, Vivacom, and Yettel. An additional frequency resource of 2x0.4 MHz has been allocated to the three enterprises, and in order to create conditions for optimal spectrum use and increase the quality of the mobile services provided, a reorganization of the spectrum in the band is to be carried out.
The three mobile operators plan to start the operational process at 00:30 and to continue until 06:00 on March 15. During this period, there may be some temporary difficulties for users using handsets supporting mainly voice services (for 2G and 3G technologies) to connect in the 900 MHz band. Users of phones supporting 4G and 5G technologies will not be affected, the CRC said.
The Commission will monitor the progress of the optimization process in accordance with the decisions adopted and the optimized spectrum allocated to the three companies. The optimization is part of a long-term effort to improve network coverage and quality of service.
