Health Minister Silvi Kirilov has issued an order banning the export of specific medicines, the ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
The ban covers ten medicinal products from group A10A – Insulins and Analogues, two products from group A10BK - Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 Inhibitors, two products from group J01 – Antibacterials for Systemic Use, and one product from group J06BD – Antiviral Monoclonal Antibodies.
These medicines were identified following an analysis of the availability of treatments for diabetes, antibiotics, and medication for premature infants. Information was collected from the Bulgarian Drug Agency, Regional Health Inspectorates, and marketing authorization holders regarding the quantities supplied and available.
Based on the data received, a list of medicines whose export is restricted was compiled. The export ban will be in effect between February 21 and March 24, 2025.
The order aims to ensure sufficient quantities of these essential medicines for Bulgarian patients, protect public health, and guarantee the continuity of their medical treatment, the press release further reads.
