site.btaBulgarian PM Borissov Confers with South Korean President Moon

September 27 (BTA special correspondent Antoan Nikolov) -
 President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea conferred with
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who is paying an
official visit to the Asian country at the head of a government
delegation between September 24 and 27.

Moon offered Bulgaria closer cooperation in the IT sector and
said that his country would like to use Bulgarian IT
professionals who are highly valued there. The head of State
would also like to see closer tourism cooperation with Bulgaria.
 He noted the steady increase in the number of Korean tourists
visiting Bulgaria.

The President said that, thanks to the efforts of its
Government, Bulgaria is a leader in the Balkans and has achieved
 rapid economic growth. Besides this, in the first half of 2019
Bulgaria held the rotating Presidency of the EU Council and its
fruitful coordination for effective work on migrant issues and
Brexit was highly appreciated.

Moon noted that two-way trade is growing and committed himself
to promote Bulgaria.

He said that Bulgaria attracts South Korean companies with its
low taxes and good conditions for doing business. For their
part, the companies are interested in investing in Bulgaria
because this gives them easy access to the EU market.

Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea
have fine cooperation in education  and student exchange. He
stressed the competitive advantages of the Bulgarian economy: a
very good business climate, low taxation, skilled labour force,
and access to the vast EU market.

The President and the Prime Minister also discussed energy and
the willingness of Korean interests to share in the Belene
N-Plant construction project.

Regarding the situation in the Korean Peninsula, Borissov said
that Bulgaria consistently and categorically stands up for a
peaceful settlement by diplomatic means. "Bulgaria praises the
leading role of the Republic of Korea and your personal efforts,
 Mr President, for making progress in the inter-Korean dialogue
and easing tensions in the Korean Peninsula," the guest added.
