site.btaEconomic Police to Inspect Pernik Water Crisis
December 26 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has
requested that National Police General Directorate head, Hristo
Terziyski, commission an economic police check on the water
crisis in Pernik, the government press center said on Thursday.
Borissov personally inspected the survey activity of Branch 2 of
the city water supply network, where huge amounts of water are
lost.
Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov said on Thursday that a
specialized company dealing with rehabilitation and construction
of underground pipelines, together with water supply and
sewerage teams, will capture the water cycle underground with a
robot capsule in order to determine where exactly the water is
lost and where there are leaks.
Water Supply and Sewerage Systems pointed out on Thursday that
the water volume of the Studena Dam is 3 938 000 cubic meters,
with a capacity of 25 519 100 cubic meters.
On Tuesday Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with
representatives of the Pernik crisis headquarters formed in
connection with the state of emergency in the municipality on
account of its water shortage, the Council of Ministers press
centre.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav
Donchev, Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov, Pernik Mayor
Stanislav Vladimirov and Regional Governor Emil Kostadinov.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Borissov was informed
about measures taken in connection with the water crisis in the
area. A Branch 2 network survey is being initiated and
excavations will be made every 150-200 m in the section to
determine whether registered losses of about 90 liters of water
per second are accidental or if they are an unregulated
