site.btaBulgaria Joins Global Leaders Producing Comics for Visually Impaired
Bulgaria is among the first six countries worldwide to produce comic books for the visually impaired, project's initiator Dima Nasteva from Arsov Sound told BTA at the Spring Book Fair here on Friday.
Nasteva received support from the author in the challenging task of adapting a comic book for the visually impaired, despite initial doubts and difficulties in finding comic book writers who believed in the project.
The inaugural comic books adapted for the visually impaired are The Adventure of Wicky and Rusalii.
Maya Bocheva, author of The Adventure of Wicky, discussed with BTA her comic's potential to appeal to a broader audience, including visually impaired people. Nasteva disclosed the creation process of comics for the visually impaired, where sighted individuals describe illustrations to them. The team then edits, prints, and records this content in an audio format.
