site.bta4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded in Canakkale
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Turkiye's northwestern Canakkale district on Tuesday, Turkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.
The tremor earthquake at 9:38 pm local time (8:38 pm Bulgarian time) in the area of the city of Yenice, Canakkale district. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10.44 km.
The earthquake was felt in Istanbul and other neighboring counties.
At the moment, there are no reports of injured people or material damage.
The Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that AFAD teams are conducting surveys on the ground for possible damages.
The Yenice Mayor Veysel Acar told the state television TRT that the earthquake was short but strong.
The citizens panicked, everyone was in the street. At this stage, however, there is no evidence of negative consequences, Acar said.
