Bulgarian Biathlete Kirchev Wins Titles at 2024 Winter World Masters Games in Italy

Bulgarian biathlete Anton Kirchev won two races at the 2024 Winter World Masters Games in Lombardy, Italy. On January 12, he won the 10-km race for athletes aged between 55 and 59, while three days later he also won the sprint for the same age group, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee reported.

Kirchev finished the 10-km race with a time of 45'54.8, leaving the Norwegian Christian Grotnes and the Canadian Glenn Rupertus second and third respectively. The Bulgarian's time of 21'33.1 was enough to win him the sprint, leaving Joni Tenhunen from Finland and Christian Grotnes second and third respectively.

Kirchev won numerous national titles and had top World Cup finishes between 1986 and 1991, the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation said.
