site.bta11,000-Plus Cigarette Boxes Seized at Lesovo

Customs officers at the Lesovo border crossing on the Bulgarian-Turkish border have seized 11,400 cigarette boxes, concealed in a truck, the Customs Agency said. 

The truck, driven by a Turkish driver, arrived at the border crossing on December 17 on its way to France. The check yielded 228,000 undeclared tobacco products.  

Pretrial proceedings have been opened under the supervision of the Yambol District Prosecution Office. 

Since the start of December, customs officers at Lesovo have seized over 500,000 contraband cigarettes and 4 million since the beginning of the year.
