On Monday, Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev attended a ceremony at which successful Bulgarian athletes were awarded.

Those young champions are "the example Bulgaria needs", Iliev said.

"Only an athlete can relate what efforts you make to reach the level you are at. . . How much deprivation, hard work, will, perseverance, discipline, dedication, and strong nerves it takes to get where you are. You are our pride and our joy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart", the minister addressed the attendees.
