Speaking at a joint news conference of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria's co-leaders here on Friday, Kiril Petkov said: "We uphold the principles and reforms in which we believe and we fight for them. We will continue to do so after the elections, because we realize that this is our responsibility, we are the pillars of change of Bulgaria. After what we saw in today's circus acts in Parliament, there is no other political party that can move Bulgaria forward." Petkov was taking a question about how his parliamentary group will continue governing the country after the local elections with the groups backing them in the National Assembly, GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF).

The news conference of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) was held in relation to information released earlier in the day that the security of the voting machines for Sunday's local elections might have been compromised due to certain actions by the Deputy Electronic Governance Minister.

In Petkov's words, all kinds of voting manipulations have already been seen. "What happened today is that they overacted," he commented. When everyone is talking against CC-DB in one voice, that means the right things are being done still. "Then, we are still on the right path to change," he added.

CC-DB co-leader Hristo Ivanov said they understand Bulgaria must have a government. "Until that government is possible, we will have to carry that responsibility," he noted.

Asked if they will replace the Deputy Electronic Governance Minister, Ivanov said that is a question for Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. "We don't do  investigations; there are bodies we call on to calmly conduct a check," Ivanov specified.

Bozhidar Bozhanov, MP of CC-DB and former electronic governance minister, commented that what the Deputy Minister had done could be part of the regular process involving the voting machines. That will be established by those tasked with the corresponding investigation, Bozhanov underscored.
