Bulgaria will continue supporting the Ukrainian people in its fight for freedom, sovereignty, and European future, said National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov at a meeting with Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk in Dublin on Thursday. Zhelyazkov gave as example the Bulgarian Parliament's resolution of September 27, 2023 to provide additional military assistance to Ukraine, the National Assembly's press centre reported.

The heads of Bulgaria's and Ukraine's legislative institutions talked on the sidelines of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Stefanchuk thanked Bulgaria for its consistent and timely support for Ukraine and its people. He expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian National Assembly for the steady support for his country. The provision of humanitarian, technical, and military assistance demonstrates Bulgaria's will to maintain the solidarity with the Ukrainian people, he noted.

Zhelyazkov said that his country will not back down from its positions with which it strongly condemns the Russian aggression and insists on restoration of the international legal order. He assured Stefanchuk that Bulgaria will support the Ukrainian people in its fight for freedom, sovereignty, and European future as long as it is necessary.
