Bulgarian sabre fencer Yoana Ilieva won a bronze medal at the World Fencing Championships in Milan. This is the first medal in Bulgarian female sabre fencing from World Championships.
In the semifinals Ilieva lost 8:15 from the fourth the in the world Despina Georgiadou (Greece), a bronze medallist from the 2022 world championships in Cairo.
In May Ilieva became European champion U23 in Budapest.
