site.btaBulgarian Foreign Minister Confers with Poland's Three Seas Initiative Coordinator

Sofia, January 18 (BTA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and
Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva conferred with Poland's
Deputy Foreign Minister and national coordinator for the Three
Seas Initiative, Pawel Jablonski, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry
 reported here on Monday. Bulgaria took over the Three Seas
Initiative's coordination role from Estonia last October.

Zaharieva, who has been designated by the Council of Ministers
as Bulgaria's national coordinator for the Initiative, said:
"Our goal is to continue the process of regional cooperation and
 building transport, energy and digital connectivity, to
consolidate and broaden the achievements of the Initiative, as
well as to host a successful and productive Summit in 2021,
accompanied by a business forum that will connect companies from
 the region with strategic foreign investors."

Zaharieva and Jablonski discussed key issues related to the
Initiative, such as the priorities of Bulgaria's hosting of the
Summit, improving the continuity between the states hosting the
Summit, institutionalization through the creation of a
secretariat, as well as opening the Initiative to external
partners that can participate in specific projects.
 
Zaharieva told Jablonski that meetings are scheduled between
January and March, including a Sherpa format meeting, a video
conference of national coordinators and foreign ministers, which
 will be followed by an energy forum, organized by the Energy
Ministry and a meeting of economy ministers in view of preparing
 the business forum.

The Three Seas Initiative is a political project launched in
2016 that includes twelve EU Member States - Bulgaria, Austria,
Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland,
Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. NV/MY.
