Sofia, August 8 (BTA) - The average monthly wage in the second quarter of 2014 increased by 2.6 per cent from the first quarter and 2.3 per cent from this time last year, to reach 817 leva, the National Statistical Institute said Friday.
The economic activities which show the biggest wage increase from the first quarter are Finance and Insurance (9.4 per cent), Education (7 per cent) and Construction (5.1 per cent).
The biggest increase from this time last year is seen in Extracting Industries (8.8 per cent), Administrative and Auxiliary Activities (6.9 per cent), Human Medicine and Social Services (5.4 per cent).
The best-paying sectors in the second quarter were Creation and Distribtion of Information and Creative Products; Telecommunications (1,767 leva), Production and Distribution of Electricity and Heat Energy and Gas Fuels (1,596 leva), Finance and Insurance (1,585 leva). The worst payers were Hotels and Restaurants (566 leva), Administrative and Auxiliary Services (571 leva).
Compared to this time last year, the average monthly wage increased by 7.4 per cent in the public sector and 0.6 per cent in the private sector.
The average cross wage was 834 leva in April 2014, 816 leva in May and 802 leva in June.
84,200 more people employed in June
Preliminary statistics shows an increase of employed people in late June by 3.8 per cent or 84,200 to a total of 2.3 million.
The biggest increase of employees is seen in Hotels and Restaurants (56.5 per cent), Culture, Sport and Recreation (19.3 per cent), Farming, Forestry and Fisheries (7.4 per cent),
The biggest decrease is reported in Education (2.4 per cent).
The share of employees is biggest in the Processing Industry (21.4 per cent) and Trade, Repair of Automobiles and Motorcycles (16.9 per cent).
In late June 2014, people with jobs were 5,200 or 0.2 per cent fewer than this time last year. In percentage terms, the decrease is biggest in Administrative and Auxiliary Services (11.2 per cent) and Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management an Reclamation (5.3 per cent).
