President Plevneliev: Bulgaria Is Well Prepared, Will Weather Any Regional Crisis

Sarajevo, July 4 (BTA special correspondent Assen Boyadzhiev) -
President Rosen Plevneliev believes that Bulgaria is
well-prepared and will weather any crisis in the region,
including the one in Greece. "Yes, Bulgaria will be affected,
but we are well-prepared and whatever happens in Greece,
Bulgaria has learnt its lessons
from the many crises we have been through," said the Bulgarian
head of state. He made the remarks in Sarajevo, where he paid a
working visit on July 3.

Plevneliev underscored that Bulgarians are well intentioned and
would like crises, regardless of where they are to be resolved
quickly.

According to the Bulgarian president the Bulgarian economy is
stable and is growing despite the crisis nearby. "Bulgarian
banks are liquid and will cope with any situation. The Bulgarian
state and institutions are following developments closely and
have taken all measures. As head of state I would like to assure
the Bulgarian people that Bulgaria is well-prepared and will
weather any crisis in the region, including the one in Greece."

"We should understand our friends and good neighbours in Greece
and help them resolve the situation," said Plevneliev.

However, he stressed that one thing is clear and that is that
crises are not resolved only through pouring money. "Crises are
resolved through the responsible actions of politicians who
implement reforms and ensure stability, which then lead to
investments, growth and development. We would like our Greek
friends to undertake bold step towards reforms, which will
ensure stability and drive the economy and the nation forward."
