December Unemployment Stands at 10%

Sofia, January 15 (BTA) - The unemployment rate in December of 2015 was 10 per cent, which is 0.1 per cent more compared to November, said the Employment Agency on Friday. Compared to December of 2014, unemployment has dropped by 0.7 per cent.

A total of 328,921 jobless persons were registered at job centres, which is 4,861 more than in November. There were 22,130 jobless persons less in December of 2015, compared to the same month of 2014.

There were 49,886 unemployed people aged 29 and younger in December of 2015, accounting for 15.2 per cent of all jobless people. Their number has decreased by 121 compared to November. Compared to December of 2014, the number of unemployed under 29s has decreased significantly - by 8,885 persons.

A total of 12,539 persons have started working in December of 2015, which is 3,849 less than in November of the same year, and 2,662 persons less than in December of 2014.

The number of people who found work on the primary labour market was 11,389, which is 3,949 less than in November. The lower number of newly hired is usual for December, the Agency explained. Compared to December of 2014, the number of people who found employment on the primary labour market went up by 939.

A total of 1,150 unemployed persons were included in subsidized employment in December of 2015, of which 1,016 were employed under Operational Programme "Human Resources Development", 83 under the Employment Programme and 51 under the Employment Promotion Act.

The work force demand on the primary labour market is decreasing in December, influenced by the seasonal factor. The real economy posted 6,674 jobs at job centres, which is 3,079 or 31.5 per cent less than in November.

The most primary labour market job vacancies posted at job centres come from the manufacturing industry - 1,582, trade - 885, state administration - 625, administrative and auxiliary services - 488, the hotel and restaurant business - 427, finance and insurance - 421, transport - 389, real estate operations - 348, construction - 322, and education - 314.
