Contraband Tobacco Seized at Kapitan Andreevo Border Crossing

Haskovo, Southern Bulgaria, January 18 (BTA) - Customs officers have intercepted 165 kg of flavoured hookah tobacco at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing.

The excise good was discovered in the luggage compartment of a Turkish-plated bus during an extensive check. The market value of the seized tobacco is nearly 40,000 leva and the due excise duty is 25,000 leva.

One of the bus drivers, a Turkish national, has been detained.

Pretrial proceedings have been opened into the case.
