Bulgaria, Greece, Romania to Enhance Defence Cooperation

Luxembourg, April 19 (BTA) - The Defence Ministers of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania vowed to take measures to enhance defence cooperation, the Defence Ministry said Tuesday. Nikolay Nenchev of Bulgaria, Panos Kammenos of Greece and Mihnea Motoc met on the sidelines of a EU defence ministerial in Luxembourg April 18 on the initiative of Nenchev.

He said that the trilateral meeting restored a much needed format of regional cooperation.

The three ministers agreed that cooperation and communication should be stepped up at all levels.

The agenda of discussion included the migrant crisis and the worsening security environment.

The difference in nuances in the positions of the three ministers were toned down by the agreement about the need of joint actions to handle the migrant flow. All sides expressed solidarity with its neighbours as they grapple with problems.

The three sides agreed that the specifics of more intensive cooperation will be discussed next week.

The upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw was also discussed.
